Talk about a great lunch deal? I stumbled on this one at San Marzano - Pizza Express on Tuesday. HK$68 for an appetizer (I had the bowl of tomato and basil soup, which I love), a pizza (I had their best one, The American), and a salad. It includes coffee, tea or a soft drink. That same meal at dinner would cost over HK$200. Don't miss it if you're in TST. (I am not sure if they offer this same deal in other locations.) Yum.
7-eleven continues to impress me. Their business strategy (one store on every corner) is smart (and not unlike Starbucks), they are consistent, and now they have "no bag Tuesday." I went into their newest store by my building Tuesday, purchased two cartons of milk and dutifully waited for my little plastic bag (we use recyclable bags for most of our groceries). The clerk looked at me quizzically and in broken English with the Cantonese accent offered, "It's no bag Tuesday. No bags on Tuesdays." Impressive.
I don't care how you slice it (or maybe I should say chew it), you can't beat Quench Gum. This chew is so tasty. Full of zest that explodes over my taste buds, I get a rush out of chomping, especially the original lemon flavor and especially at the gym. Yum again. (I had my cousin bring back three boxes of Quench from the States two weeks ago and I plan to load up again when I am in the U.S. next weekend.)
Congratulations to our dear friends Damien & Seila who were married last Saturday. What a joy for me to officiate at the wedding. I was very nervous that same morning. In fact, I went into a panic when the top of the Q-tip that was cleaning out my left ear popped off the stick and got stuck in my eardrum. I had to get my wife to come pull it out with tweezers. I had visions of me going to the wedding with a cotton tip wedged in my ear. Not cool.
What a sucky week of blogging for me. I'm getting extra busy and it's blocking out good blogging time. I hate it when this happens. The trouble is it's not going to get any better anytime soon. This next week is nasty busy and then I fly to the States Friday. This morning I got so frustrated I had to go to a place of peace in-between two Saturday appointments. Where did I retreat? The bookstore. Dymocks at IFC in Central provided the temporary cure. Is there anything more soothing than a trip to the bookshelf when I'm stressed? I expect to spend quite a bit of time in those U.S. supersized bookstores (think Barnes & Noble) on my visit to the States. Very therapeutic. (Note: I didn't actually buy a book, but I did get this month's Harvard Business Review. What a superb periodical this is!)
The NFL kicks off its regular season next Sunday, September 9th!! I am in two NFL Fantasy Leagues and I drafted in one Monday and the other this evening. So far, I have built one very good team and I am about to embark on building a second winner. Let's hope the players fall to me where I think they will!
On that note...gotta run and get into the draft room!
