This week's question: you may have noticed the winter Olympics are going on. Is that affecting your reading time? Have you read any Olympic themed books? What do you think about the Olympics in general?
The reason I have been doing less reading than usual the last two weeks is not because of the Olympics but because we have been traveling through Scotland (this trip is part work, part holiday). I have not seen much of the games, unfortunately, since I do enjoy them. I like the winter sports better than the summer sports, so I hope when I get back to Hong Kong on Saturday morning to be able to watch the competitors. I also hope to get back onto my normal reading schedule!
No, I've not read any Olympic themed books because I generally do not read pieces about sports. I am not sure why this is, but I think I get enough of it on-line and in the newspaper following my favorite teams. As for what I think about the Olympics in general, I am for it. I am not thrilled with the financial investment it takes to host it (wouldn't even a portion of that money be better spent on poverty?), but I still believe the world needs it. Every country needs it. Bringing nearly every culture and language together around sports, like music, is great for the affirmation of our common humanity and I think it's also good for promoting peace and love among people.
